Feces can uncover valuable information as to what is occurring in the gastrointestinal system. Unlike other laboratory tests, stool samples are commonly collected at home by the patient. But, patients find the collection of stool to be difficult, unpleasant and unhygienic to perform. Many patients take a sample directly from the toilet basin which is not only difficult but may cause potential measurement errors due to the loss of content from surrounding water or contamination with toilet sanitizers and additives.
The disposable EasySampler® Stool Collection Kit has been specifically designed for attachment to North American toilets and can be flushed after use.

Norgen’s Stool Nucleic Acid Collection and Preservation Tubes are for the rapid preservation of nucleic acids from fresh stool specimens. The Stool Nucleic Acid Collection and Preservation Tubes contain Norgen’s Stool Preservative in a liquid format. The Stool Preservative prevents the growth of Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria and fungi, and also inactivates viruses allowing the resulting non-infectious samples to be handled and shipped safely. In addition, the Stool Preservative eliminates the need to immediately process or freeze samples and allows the samples to be shipped to centralized testing facilities at ambient temperatures. Components of the Stool Preservative allow samples to be stored at room temperature for over 2 years for DNA and 7 days for RNA. To extend the stool RNA stability in the preservative, storage at -20°C or -70°C is recommended upon arrival at testing facilities until the RNA purification.

These fecal collection tubes take a microbial snapshot of a sample while inactivating viruses making samples safe and ready for transport. Samples stored in these fecal collection tubes are stable at ambient temperature, and can be frozen for longer-term storage. Simply collect a spoonful of the specimen into the stool collection tubes prefilled with preservative and shake vigorously to ensure proper stabilization. R1137 is pre-filled with 5 glass beads to help facilitate homogenization.
